About CASI

The Carbon Accounting Standards Initiative (CASI) advances the practice of corporate carbon accounting and reporting. We convene academics, policymakers, and industry leaders to develop standards that integrate corporate and product carbon accounting. The resulting product carbon footprints and corporate CO2 statements provide decision-useful information about a company’s carbon position and performance.

CASI is an independent, not-for-profit initiative hosted at the Mannheim Institute for Sustainable Energy Studies of the University of Mannheim. Our standards, called CASI Whitepapers, are based on peer-reviewed research published in leading science and business journals. They are also based on case studies and pilots at member companies. All whitepapers are available under Publications.
